Artist's Comments

This goes way back. I have a colour version that I'm not happy with so I will be reworking.

HOLY SHIT, THIS IS AWESOME!!!
:iconphilippel:
One of the coolest Pelennor battle drawing I have seen ever! :)

Wonderful job! Capturing a great moment here. I love the shading you've done on the subject, and especially the fact that you made a personal view of things, no movie-based-nazgul here.

One little thing: shouldn't the Witch King be seated in front of the wing? Now his (armored) leg seems to puncture the wing membrane.

Great illustration, love the charging line of Rohirrim is the background.

Excellent illustration of that famous battle. This scenery offers plenty to see, and composition is perfect in my opinion - I especially like how Eowyn stands out. The city on the background, mountain slopes and sky... you have succeeded well keeping this illustration "clean".

Very skillful shading (Witch-King is really impressive) and all those details really raises the atmosphere. I can't wait to see coloured version.

the witch king is so menacing in this picture.

thanks! I really liked this point of view, especially because I wanted to avoid showing the witch king's visage. He still dominates the space and makes Eowyn look even more frail. The background is still up in the air for me. It's a matter of where on the battlefield this took place - was near the city, mid way, after the gates or before. Once I'm more comfortable with that I'll be able to plot it out.

I have done a colour version. One which worked out well on the foreground, but the back.

thank you. I'd like to see more of people's personal interpretations instead of capturing the film versions. It would create a much more vivid world.

You're probably right about the leg but I was more concerned with getting the compostion right.
:iconabepapakhian:
yeah, he does. That's why I like this composition so much.
:iconabepapakhian:
thanks. It's one of my favorites.
